Work starts on the Western Sydney Airport.

The last remaining building has been cleared from the 1,780-hectare Badgerys Creek site. TransGrid has also started work to remove 3.2 kilometres of aerial 330 kV power line and replace it with an underground cable. Tenders have been called for enabling works like geotechnical investigations and detailed surveys. Expressions of interest have also been sought for a Delivery Partner to undertake project management , project control, design and construction management. The Delivery Partner will share the risk of delivering the project on time and on budget. A contract for bulk earthworks and airside civil works will be put to tender later this year, with bulk earthworks to commence before the end of 2018. Landslide facilities and technical infrastructure will be separately procured.
